Clients find me to be a calming presence in the counselling process: relaxed, grounded, practical and easy to talk to.
My goal is to help clients find their inner strength, develop healthy and strong relationships, and to live a more satisfying and fulfilled life.
Occupational therapy (OT) is a degree-based health profession, regulated by the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Occupational therapists use a whole person perspective to work with individuals, groups and communities to achieve optimal health and wellbeing through participation in the occupations of life, and in activities that they find meaningful.
The term ‘occupation’ is used to describe the everyday things we do in our life roles, but also the activities we do to be who we are, the actions we do to create a meaningful life and to engage with wider society and culture.
A mental health Occupational Therapist (MHOT) works with clients to identify how their mental health challenges impact their ability to engage in meaningful and satisfying activities. In your work with me, we will collaboratively identify goals for improved mental health, develop a manageable plan and work at your pace, in a bespoke and tailored process.
I take a holistic and strengths-based approach, seeking to understand the whole person from an interactional, systemic, neurobiological and psychosocial perspective. Interventions are drawn from a range of theoretical frameworks and practices, tailored to each client’s specific situation, needs and interests, to help you develop a more meaningful, balanced and fulfilling life.
I support and assist people who are struggling with adverse life circumstances, such as grief and adjustment, emotional regulation challenges, stress, parenting and relationships. Help is available for those who are seeking better understanding of their emotional state and daily functioning, whether there is a mental health diagnosis (such as anxiety or depression) or a developmental condition such as autism spectrum disorder or attention deficit disorder. Many people utilise mental health support to assist in maintaining optimal mental health, developing self-care and good health practices.
I'd love to get to know you and your goals and needs. Get in touch with me today to chat about whether Mental Health OT is a good fit for you.
